Second graders are measuring!
-We know the difference between inches and centimeters and that a ruler has both. (We must be careful and check the unit before we measure!)
-We know that there are 100 centimeters in a meter.
-We have made our own meter tape and are measuring all sorts of classroom items.
-We answer word problems related to measurement
We use math journals to answer word problems. We grade our own answers with a star system. We aim to get 3 stars but it's possible to get 4! Ask your son or daughter what their problem solving strategies are for addition and subtraction. Maybe they even have multiple ways of solving a problem.
